Matthew 5: 12
In the last post i ended with Matthew 10 and 11
“Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me."
In 12 Jesus is still speaking about 10 and 11 and says
“Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
The Hebrew Names version Bible buts it this way
“Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you”
We are to be exceedingly glad, not just glad but extremely glad looks like we should be joyfully glad, You may say jay that is a bit extrema but think about it, what better way to know what you are doing saying or believing is right.
Just as the world persecuted, insulted and spoke evil against the prophets of God, if you are determined to live a holy life dedicated to Jesus you will be treated in the same manner, what better way to know you are on the right track than to have the world hate you, for the world heats a true follower of Christ more than anything ells.
This should bring you to a point of being exceedingly glad and even great joy, it should bring you to a point of peace and contentment knowing that you will be spending eternity with Father God and Christ Jesus in the new heaven and new earth (in heaven)
In Matthew 10:32,33 Jesus tells us;
“Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven."
And in Hebrews 13:5 Jesus tells us;
"Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,”
"Let love of the brethren continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves also are in the body. Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge. Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,” so that we confidently say, “THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?”
For God created the sole and only God can condemn the soil to the lake of fire (hell)
It is only through the blood of Jesus that we have any hope of salvation for it is through His blood that Father God see us, if we have not excepted the love and the free gift of forgiveness we will be pruned out, cut away, we are saved from the pit of hell by excepting that free gift we are not saved by our actions and deeds, but it by our actions and deeds that shows our commitment to Christ Jesus. And if we are committed to living a righteous holy life before Christ the world will heat us.
I think what holds back many is
1. A lack of faith; either not truly believing or perhaps not knowing what Jesus has promised each of us.
2. Pride; not wanting someone to think badly of you, fearing man more than God.
3. Wanting so badly to fit in and be accepted by others around us; instead of turning to the Holy Spirit and Jesus for friendship and companionship.
I can do all things through Christ who straightens me In the letter Paul wrote to the people of Philippians and to all generations (that includes you and me) In Philippians 4:11-13 Paul makes a few statements that show the proper mind set we should have.
“Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
If we learn to be content in all Christ has given us, or to do without what He has not given us this will make it much simpler to not be as influence by the world and the ways of the word, which in turn makes it simpler to live a riches life dedicated to the Lord Jesus.
Want to learn a bit more about Joy? Read Philippians;
1:1-30 Joy in suffering
2:1-30 Joy in serving
3:1-21 Joy in believing
4:1-23 Joy in giving
In Nehemiah 8:10 we are told
Think about it
