When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying,
These are the first words in Matthew 5, and to me are some of the most important words in the bible that we should be paying attention to, Jesus has started teaching, if you are looking to know who Jesus is and what Jesus wants you to do in and with your life the following words are essential, for in chapters 5,6 and 7 of Matthew Jesus is teaching us not only how we should be living on this earth but also about Himself. We are told blessed are the,
Poor in spirit, those who mourn, gentle, hunger and thirst for righteousness, merciful, pure in heart, the peacemaker, those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness and verse 11“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
Being poor in spirit; is to recognize our own spiritual poverty, and our need for God
To mourn; s to feel regret and sadness about sin in your life
To hunger and thirst after righteousness; to have a strong desire to learn and live a righteous life
Merciful; to show forgiveness and to have compassion to those in your life
Pure in heart; to have a singleness of heart toward God
Peacemakers; create harmony or make peace, to not house bitterness envy and selfish ambitions in your hearts
Persecuted for the sake of righteousness; to be persecuted for doing the right thing and following after the Lord
And 11, blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
The conclusion that i get out of Matthew5: 3-11
We are to know who God is and that we are not worthy, we need to relies and except that we are not god not a big G or a little g
and to bring the love of Christ to the world we are in, which can only be dun through the leading of the Holy Spirit
