Matthew 6:16-18
“Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.
But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.”
Fasting is something that is supposed to be dune between you and the Lord, but the world and a lot of those who call them self’s Christians have made it a thing about physical health and a spiritual status.
Jesus said To do it in a manner so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
Fasting has become an industry in this country just look at the number of books written on it. It is supposed to be between you and God to help cleans your spirit to help you communicate with the Holy Spirit, to bring you closer in spirit with your creator, to present yourself and your needs before your Lord.
But once you turn it in to a physical of communal thing it becomes nothing more than another fad or distraction to build up your own ego.
You do not need my words or the words of any man what you need is to hear from the Holy Spirit of God who He gave to you when you asked Jesus in to your heart.
In John 14:25-26 Jesus tells us
“These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”
It is the Holy Spirit who will teach us ALL things if we will but listen, fasting helps clear the human spirit so that it is smother for our spirit to hear the Holy Spirit, it is between the individual and the Lord and having this pathway connection with the Spirit of God is the path on which to make your request know in a proper way, for the Holy Spirit can communicate our heart and soul to the Father in a way our thought and words can never.
And in James 1:5 we are told
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:6-8 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts, is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.
For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
No man has ever written a book that preached a sermon or taught a teaching that has ever come close to a teaching by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit can use what man has said and adjust it in the heart of man if need be, but to be taught something directly by the Holy Spirit as you read through the word of God is a teaching you will always remember and take to heart for it will penetrate and adhere to your spirit and feed your soul like no words from a man can ever do.
And so it is with fasting, take a day and let the Holy Spirit feed your spirit instead of you feeding your flesh.
Praying and fasting the best way to get direction in life.
but remember do not do it to be notesed by man but rather by Father God who is in secret, who sees in seceret what is done in secret and will reward you.

As time went on He just sat, knoqing, knowing what no one else seemed to know.

But staring in to the red leave's He knew spring was on it's way, and that His life would go on as He reflected on the Love He had felt.

And that no mater how the lonely streets desended upon Him He would continue to shin, as He sat their He could be heard sining softly to Himself,   This little light of mine.
