“Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.
But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you." i believe the Lord has said so much here dealing with so much more than just fasting.
i believe the Holy Spirit has shown me that no mater what you doe if you are doing it for man to see and give you prays for it (to look good in the sight of man) then yo will miss out on a blessing from Father God in the end.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
If you are doing things to look good to man, your treasures will be here on earth, and for appearance sake you will also be storing up worldly goods (stuff and things) because you will be striving to fit in and be looked up to ass having made it.
Brings you back to Who will you serve the Lord Jesus or man?
Mat 6:22-24 “The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth."
Aging brings you back to who will you serve. are your motivations to serve the God of creation, or the desires of man?
